Doctor Doctor to Play at Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic Tailgate Party
Local Band to Entertain Before December 8th Football Game
Mount Pleasant, TX, December 1, 2007--What's a football game without a tailgate party?
Start your day at the fourth annual Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic by joining the Bowl Classic Tailgate Party at Sam Parker Field in Mount Pleasant, Texas, on December 8, 2007. The party gets underway at 10:30 a.m., hosted this year by Junior Achievement of Titus County.
This year's party will feature live entertainment from Mount Pleasant's own "Doctor Doctor," a Kiddie Korral play area and plenty of Pilgrim's Pride grilled chicken sandwiches cooked on the world largest grill.
Miss Texas Molly Hazlett and former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek will also be at the tailgate party to sign autographs and visit with fans.
"We're really excited this year to have Titus County Junior Achievement host the tailgate party for us," said Judi Saxton, Mount Pleasant Independent School District Public Information Officer and a member of the Bowl Classic committee. "They have worked very hard to line up lots of activities for both children and adults. All of the proceeds from the sale of the chicken sandwiches will go to support the work of this fine volunteer organization that does so much for the school children of Titus County."
"Doctor Doctor" is a rock & roll/blues band from northeast Texas. The group was formed in 1998 by Dr. Mark Quiring, a local family physician. Since its formation, "Doctor Doctor" has grown into a premier band that performs regularly at venues from Texarkana to Dallas, as well for private parties, corporate events, weddings, fundraisers and charity events.
Members of "Doctor Doctor" include Mark Quiring on drums, percussion and vocals; Steve Johnson on bass guitar and vocals; Larry Williams on guitars and vocals; and Randy Altenbaumer on keyboards, saxophone and vocals. As a special treat, Mark Quiring, Jr, the 10-year son of the band's leader, will play along on some of the songs.
"Mark, Jr. is left handed and plays a left handed drum kit," said his proud mother Kay. "He has never taken a lesson - just watched his dad and listened to the music. By the way, his dad, Mark, Sr. has never had a lesson either."
"Doctor Doctor has a loyal and growing fan base throughout all of Northeast Texas, and we’re sure our fans will enjoy the show," said Cheri Schneider, communications coordinator at Pilgrim's Pride and a member of the Bowl Classic committee.
