Cheyane Smith to Perform at Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic
Mt. Pleasant, TX, November 29, 2007 - Fifteen-year-old Cheyane Smith of Ore City, Texas has been selected to sing the National Anthem at the Fourth Annual Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic, the Bowl Classic committee announced today. Cheyane has been singing since the age of six in church. At the age of ten she recorded her first CD and found herself performing at various functions including fairs, opries, music festivals, and private events. She has won many awards and singing competitions and has proven to be a great entertainer. "Cheyane performed at this year's Titus County Fair and really wowed the audience," said Judi Saxton, Mt. Pleasant ISD (MPISD) Public Information Officer and a member of the Bowl Classic committee. "We are thrilled that she is available to sing the National Anthem for this year's game." Cheyane's ability to sing all types of music, including country, gospel, southern rock, and rock & roll has made her a crowd-pleaser with all ages. She has had the pleasure of performing with many well-known musical artists, including Neal McCoy, Perfect Stranger, Johnny Lee, Moe Bandy, Johnny Rodriguez, Gene Watson, Jeff Bates, Shenandoah and the Bellamy Brothers. Cheyane has recorded several CDs and wrote one of the songs on her latest CD. She recently teamed up with the Luke Williams Band, and the two young performers have proven to be a crowd-pleasing act. Event Information A tailgate party will begin at 10:30 a.m. December 8 featuring the music of Doctor Doctor. Pre-game activities are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., with kick-off to follow at 1 p.m. Southwest Junior College Football Conference Champions Navarro College will play against 4th-ranked Georgia Military College. Reserved seat tickets for the game are now on sale at the Mt. Pleasant High School Business Office. Reserved seats are $10 for chair-back seats and $8 for the remaining reserved seats. General admission seats are $6 and are on sale at area banks, Mt. Pleasant High School, the Mt. Pleasant ISD Administration Building and the Titus County-Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
