Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic to feature Nationally Ranked Kilgore Junior College and Pima Community College

Mt. Pleasant, Texas - November 15, 2004 - Two nationally ranked junior college football teams -- Kilgore Junior College, ranked No. 4, and No. 11 Pima Community College of Tucson, Ariz. -- have accepted invitations to the inaugural Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic.

Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at Sam Parker Field in Mt. Pleasant and will be broadcast live by Fox Sports Southwest. Kickoff time for the game has been rescheduled to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate Fox Sports Southwest's broadcast schedule.

Kilgore, 10-1 for the season, is champion of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference. Pima is 8-3 for the season.

"We're excited to be a participant in the first Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic," said Kilgore Head Coach Jim Rieves. "We believe it will be a great bowl, and we appreciate the fact that it is backed by a quality corporation. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Coming with the team will be the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes, who will perform at halftime.

Pima Community College Athletic Director Dr. Robert Riza said; "It is an honor for us to come to Texas and for the Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic to be our first bowl game."

A pre-game tailgate party will feature Pilgrim's Pride chicken sandwiches prepared on the world's biggest smoker and grill from Mrs. Baird's.

"Tailgate party participants will be entertained by area bands, drill teams and cheerleaders from surrounding towns," said Sondra Fowler of Pilgrim's Pride. "Pre-game activities will include some other special activities that fans are sure to enjoy."

Tickets for Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic are on sale at Brookshire's and Super 1. Adult tickets are $6; student tickets are $3.
