Pilgrim's Pride and Mrs. Baird's Team Up to Throw Big Bowl Barbecue
World's Biggest Grill to Feed Fans
Mrs. Baird's "Ultimate Smoker and Grill" -- the world's largest mobile barbecue smoker and grill weighing 60,000 pounds with 40 square feet of grilling surface - will provide football fans delicious chicken sandwiches before the inaugural bowl event. The Pilgrim's Pride chicken sandwiches, which will include bread and chips from Mrs. Baird's and a soft drink, will sell for $3 each. Members of Northeast Texas area visiting drill teams, bands and cheerleaders performing at half-time will eat free. "The Ultimate Smoker and Grill is definitely a conversation piece that's a must-see everywhere we visit," said Elizabeth Watters of Mrs. Baird's. "People are excited about seeing the world's largest smoker and grill combo and Mrs. Baird's is pleased to show our support for the Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic." "Mrs. Baird's is big in Texas," said Dan Emery, vice president of marketing for Pilgrim's Pride. "What better way to show it than with a 55-foot long smoker and grill transported by an 18-wheeler that can slow-smoke 2,500 pounds of chicken at a time? It gives us official Texas bragging rights and will make the Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic even more fun." The Ultimate Smoker and Grill was fabricated from a single piece of steel. Its sheer size attracts barbecue enthusiasts and provokes a second look from passersby. The Ultimate Smoker and Grill stays on the road traveling to college football games, charity events, concerts, pro sports stadiums and other events, and recently visited the State Fair of Texas. Mrs. Baird's also served at the official National Football League Tailgate Party at the 2004 Super Bowl in Houston, and at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street in 2001. Tickets for Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic will be on sale in mid-November at Brookshire's and Super 1. Adult tickets are $6; student tickets are $3.
